This is the story of two ancient sisters. Born in the tumultuous years following the Battle of Hastings of 1066, they were at first close, sharing dreams and aspirations as they grew to independence.
But their lives were destined to be traumatic, both were abandoned and forgotten by their friends. But they were strong and resilient.
Although living only one and a half miles apart they lost touch for hundreds of years until the story of the last man to love both of them was told and they were reunited.

A fairy story of course - but yet?

This is the story of the relationship between the two tiny Norman Churches at Dode and Paddlesworth.

Studied and regarded by academics as ‘sisters’ whose locations have provided the generic name for all ‘two cell ‘ churches, they share a history of almost 1000 years.

Far from a dusty assessment of the two remarkably similar buildings, Doug’s multimedia presentation will focus on the actual lives of those villagers who lived, loved and died surrounded, and influenced by the beautiful North Downs of Kent, and of the ongoing plans to finally reunite them.
